Hearing Protection

Hearing protection exists for multiple industries and hobbies. There is always a benefit to wearing protection when unwanted noise exceeds safe hearing levels. Protection options from Vero ENT Associates take all lifestyles into consideration. All patients are different, so they deserve devices that cater to their specific needs.

Protection options

Having multiple different hearing protection options is common for multiple reasons. They are attuned to specific activities, have different noise suppression levels and are sometimes dependent on alternate features. These alternate features are what separate motorsport earplugs from hunting earplugs. Here are some of the more specialized types available.

  • Music: Provides protection in the studio and during live concerts. Is good for balancing out audio without affecting the quality of the music
  • Hunting: Built-in hardware mutes gun pops without lowering environmental sounds. It kicks in when necessary to enhance hunting and shooting
  • Sleep: Blocks out all sound to help the wearer get restful sleep. Can be useful when charging hearing aids overnight
  • Occupational: Earmuffs and earplugs fall into this category. They are used in industrial settings where wear is usually mandatory
  • Custom: Custom fit earplugs that can apply to any type and are a cut above a generic style
  • Surf/Swimming: Floats on water and prevents water from entering the ear. Great for professional or casual users that spend a lot of time in the water

Musicians earplugs and monitors

Without the ability to hear, a musical artist is at a disadvantage when making or performing music. In-studio earplugs are the answer to protecting a musician’s most valuable asset. Highs and lows are automatically balanced by the earplugs.
During a live concert, wedges are used to keep an artist on beat. In-ear monitors are the official replacement for wedges and get rid of a lot of unnecessary bulk. Instead of large equipment onstage and no ear protection, monitors offer a better alternative. They are small speakers that let performers hear music the same way the crowd would hear it. It is unobtrusive, and the preferred way to handle small or large venues.

Earmolds and earplugs

For maximum comfort, earmolds are made from an exact mold of the wearer’s ears. Earmolds can block out mid to high noise exposure. The versatility of the available styles is helpful when matching them with individual needs. Even with heavy protection, some earmolds include a built-in attenuator to aid with normal communication. In noisy environments, the comfort and usefulness of earmolds are irreplaceable.

Earplugs offer similar benefits to earmolds in a smaller package. They rest in the canal, with many specialty models to complement casual users or professionals. Custom earplugs are preferred over generic options and are recommended when getting the specialty variants. Without a custom fit, the advanced features of earplugs won’t work as intended.
