Here’s how allergy skin testing works

Using the extract of common or suspected allergens, small amounts of each are placed on the inside and outside of the arms, as well as the shoulder area. The procedure lasts approximately an hour and a half during which the patient is monitored for an allergic reaction. For children and adults, skin testing is the preferred diagnostic method as it can evaluate a significant number of environmental allergens at one time.
