Parotidectomy / Submandibular Gland Excision AKA: Salivary Gland Surgery
A portion or all of the parotid gland may be removed for treatment of benign or malignant tumors in the salivary glands. Glands under the jaw are sometimes removed because of stone formation or chronic inflammation and infection. Surgery is often required for treatment of salivary tumors as benign tumors may continue to grow if left untreated.
